July 4, 2009 - Kirkland, WA

Once again the weather was fantastic for the Kirkland July 4th parade! Twelve cars attended, with a few members crossing county lines to join. As always, the DeLoreans were well received and are a crowd favorite.

I'm always surprised by who we end up seeing along the route. It never fails that someone in the crowd recognizes on the the DeLorean owners. This year someone from the crowd called my name and it turned out to be a managed I reports to at Microsoft back in 1991! Shiraz Caupals, another club member was 4 former co-workers in the crowd.

Four years ago, some friends of mine from Chicago, whom I've never met in person, were visiting Seattle and were in Kirkland site seeing. I had no idea they were in town but they overheard someone hoping to see the DeLoreans in the Kirkland parade again. Know I had a DeLorean, my friends stuck around to see, and they did!

It is a small world indeed, and the world seems to always come together at the Kirkland 4th parade.

August 23, 2009 - Hoquiam, WA

The Pacific NW DeLorean Club visited the historic 7th St. Theatre in Hoquiam WA to attend a showing of the 1985 movie "Back to the Future" on August 23, and to celebrates the theater's 80th birthday. Eleven DeLoreans from Seattle and Portland roared into downtown Hoquiam and landed in front of the beautiful, historic theatre.
The theatre was built in 1928 at a cost of $175,000. The 1,022 seat theatre was designed to not only host vaudeville acts, but was also the first theatre in Washington to be able to show the new “talkies”. It is the last example of an atmospheric theatre, that gives patrons the feeling they are sitting in an outdoor Spanish garden.

Movie-goers were encouraged to dress up in clothes from their favorite era of the movie, whether that was 1985 or 1955. They wanted to have some fun before the theater closed in the fall for repairs. A ride in one of the DeLoreans was also raffled off to raise funds for restoring the 7th Street Theatre. A great time was had by all.
